Don and Julie Cleveland Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created by Frederick Community College faculty member Natasha Cleveland and her husband Jeffrey Ladner in loving memory of Natasha’s beloved parents, Don and Julie Cleveland. Though neither was a college graduate, Don and Julie emphasized the importance of hard work and education to their four daughters, who all eventually went on to earn college degrees. Don and Julie were devoted to their faith, their family, and their country. Julie’s creative talents ranged from sewing and scrapbooking to painting and photography. She was the family’s designated historian and has left behind an extensive family history. Don was an ex-Marine who loved running, hiking, and biking. Frequent hikes with his daughters, particularly with Natasha, led her to eventually pursue a teaching career in geology. This scholarship was established to memorialize the amazing love and life that Don and Julie shared. Their love ran so strong and deep that Don followed his sweetheart less than three months after Julie’s untimely death. While they are sorely missed, their legacy of love and service live on in the numerous lives they have touched.

The scholarship is for $1,000 towards tuition for a full-time student majoring in a teaching or helping profession, who has taken one science lab course and has a current college GPA of 3.0.
