Carolyn Smith-Clark, MA and Dr. Burton A. Clark, EFO Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is in memory of Carolyn Smith-Clark who was a leader in the fire service for over 50 years. Carolyn served at the local, state, national, and international levels, in the areas of prevention, education, training, leadership, and executive development. She worked for the Utah Fire Marshal’s Office, the National Fire Academy, the Emergency Management Institute, and the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute. She taught in all 50 States and internationally. Her academic background includes a BS in Management from the University of MD University College 1994 and MA in Human Services from Hood College 2002. She raised six children, with 14 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Dr. Clark created this scholarship to honor Carolyn his life partner and all the women who contributed to his personal and professional development. Burt believes that the women in his life are responsible for his contributions to the fire service and his family.

Criteria:

1. Recipient will be enrolled as a student at Frederick Community College
2. Recipient will be enrolled in a Fire Service Program major.
3. Recipient will have a minimum GPA of 2.00.
4. Recipient will be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours.
5. Priority will be given to a female student in a Fire Service Program major.
